Primary Sleepover

After our Summerfest the Grade 1&2 pupils came back to school...to sleep!

After a DVD and popcorn the children finally got around to getting some sleep! In the morning the children were served breakfast before the school day begun!

Do you think the children look tired?

Summerfest

On Tuesday evening we had our Summerfest in the forest to celebrate the work from Project Week with our parents. After a walk, the children were able to take part in a treasure hunt with their parents. Family members had to work together to answer questions about Project Week and then find treasure using their treasure maps. After the hard work we had a BBQ and drinks for refreshments.

A big thank you to all of the parents for coming and also a big thank you to all of the children for working so hard throughout Project Week and being brilliant at helping their parents during the Summerfest.

Masoala Halle - Zurich Zoo

Today the 1st and 2nd Grade children went to the Masoala Halle at Zurich Zoo to learn more about their Rainforest topic. The children got to experience the temperature and humidity as well as look at different types of plants and animals that are native to the rainforest environment.

There was also the opportunity for the children to ask an 'in-house' expert some questions that they had.

Project Week

Both Kindergarten and Primary children enjoyed spending their whole Project Week in the forest.

The children worked on activities to identify forest animals and plants; they learned about camouflage; built huts and much more. The children also got to make their lunches over a fire including burgers, raclette and vegetable and meat skewers.

A big thank you must go to our parent helpers (who gave up their time); our teachers for their planning and organisation...and of course, the children for working so hard all week.

It was a fantastic week that everyone thoroughly enjoyed!

Sports Day

Wow...What a day of fun, excitment and sport!

Both the Kindergarten and Primary children joined together today for Sports Day. The children worked in teams to compete against each other in lots of fun activities.

The children had to:

Take penalty kicks...

Flick the ball out of the parachute...

Keep up a balloon with a racquet...

Jump on a trampoline...

As well as: throw wet sponges; practice their catching skills; search for cards...

...and have a well deserved rest!

After a break the children took part in some fun relay races...and even the teachers joined in for the potato and spoon race.

We had a special assembly where the winners received certificates for their great performances.

In the afternoon the children got into the spirit of the World Cup by playing some football...

And finally, we had a cool down back at school!

Kings and Queens for a day!

Recently the Grade 1&2 children visited the castle in Rapperswil. We had spent lots of time learning about castles in school but it was fantastic to have a guide to take us around a real one!

As part of our topic we even got to build our own castles! Have a look.

Hospital Visit - Maennedorf

Recently the Grade 1&2 children have been learning about the body and how to stay healthy in their topic 'Fighting Fit'.

As part of this topic a visit to the local hospital in Maennedorf was organised. The super hospital staff arranged lots for the children to do and see. They visited the Emergency ward, met a new born baby, got to look inside an ambulance, had their fingers plastered and some even had a blood test...to mention just a few!

These girls look surprisingly happy to have their fingers in plaster!

One brave boy steps up to have some blood taken...

...while some others thought it was better just to watch!
